Building Addition to EB Lyons Interpretive Center
Expansion Plan Details
The Friends
of the Mines of Spain and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources
are proud to announce Building Plans for an
Expansion to the E.B. Lyons Interpretive Center
of the Mines of Spain Recreation Area.
The Expansion will -
—add 7256 square feet to the existing structure; effectively
doubling its size.
—feature a large Upper Level Room for conferences, presentations,
and programs.
—include space in the Lower Level for hands-on Nature Labs and
Exhibits.
—provide an additional Meeting Room, new Office Space, Food Preparation
Area for dinners, and needed Storage Space.
—be designed to maintain architectural similarity to original
structure.
—have ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant restroom
facilities.
The Benefits of the Expansion -
—increase opportunities for Nature Programs at the Center.
—allow for multiple and larger groups to use the Center.
—be available for use by Community groups.
—enhance current use and displays of the original E.B. Lyons
Nature Center.
—feature state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment.
—improve Library/Reference Room in existing space.
