SUMMARY:First Sunday Hike
DESCRIPTION:We will try to do a First Sunday Hike Every first Sunday of the month at a different trail each time. This will be a fairly informal gathering at the EB Lyons Center outside for a short hike at 12 noon followed by a presentation on Freshwater Mussels at the EB Lyons Center at 1pm. We will walk the John and Alice Butler trail just North of the EB Lyons Center. This is an easy trail suitable for small children and is a flat\, paved trail.

DESCRIPTION:Join presenter Jared McGovern for this fun interactive presentation for all ages. As partners\, the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium and the Genoa National Fish Hatchery have devised a way to effectively engage our students\, and our community in a hopeful conservation message sprinkled with a hefty dose of realism by flexing our mussels!  Join us act out the life cycle of a freshwater mussel and discover how our students and visitors are partaking in projects aimed at saving species from extinction\, and how we are introducing students to the role Zoos and Aquariums play in a much larger conservation effort.

He is a co-author on the book “Building a Successful Biodiesel Business” and will have some books for sale at a discount and will have a book signing after the talk.
